The City of Los Angeles is a proud participant in the “The Great California Shakeout!,” the largest planned earthquake drill in the United States. Since 2008, the Shakeout has encouraged each of us to be personally prepared for disaster. This year’s drill will take place on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at 10:17 a.m.
This is an opportunity to practice how to be safer during earthquakes: "Drop, Cover and Hold On." ShakeOut also has been organized to encourage you, your community, your school, or your organization to update emergency plans and supplies, and to secure your space in order to prevent damage and injuries.
